Two Oroville Residents Arrested After Violent Burglary and Assault in Concow, CA
Concow, CA — July 2, 2025 — The Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) has confirmed the arrest of two Oroville residents—36-year-old Chase Cotton and 45-year-old Kimberly Langley—following a violent burglary and assault that took place in the rural community of Concow on June 26, 2025. The incident, which left residents shaken and authorities on high alert, prompted an intensive investigation, rapid response by deputies, and the use of aerial search operations that ultimately led to the suspects’ apprehension.
According to a detailed news release from the BCSO, the disturbing sequence of events began late on the evening of June 26 when deputies were dispatched to a private residence in the Concow area after receiving a 911 call reporting a violent home invasion. The caller, a male victim, stated that he had been attacked during a burglary attempt and sustained injuries during a confrontation with the intruders.
Upon arrival, responding deputies found evidence of forced entry, signs of struggle inside the home, and the victim with visible injuries. He was treated at the scene and later transported to a local medical facility for additional care. Fortunately, his injuries were non-life-threatening.
The suspects, identified as Cotton and Langley, reportedly fled the scene prior to the deputies’ arrival. BCSO quickly mobilized ground units and initiated an extensive manhunt that included the deployment of aerial search teams and K9 units. Investigators were able to track the suspects’ movements using surveillance footage from nearby properties, witness accounts, and forensic evidence collected at the crime scene.
On July 1, after days of relentless investigative work, Cotton and Langley were located and arrested without incident at a residence in Oroville. They were taken into custody by BCSO deputies with support from the Oroville Police Department. A search warrant was also executed at the location, where deputies recovered stolen property and additional evidence linking both suspects to the Concow burglary and assault.
Cotton and Langley are facing a range of serious charges, including:
-
Burglary (First Degree)
-
Assault with a Deadly Weapon
-
Conspiracy to Commit a Crime
-
Possession of Stolen Property
-

In a public statement, Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea praised the swift actions of deputies and investigators in bringing the suspects to justice. “This case is a strong example of the outstanding work done by our deputies and detectives to ensure public safety, especially in our more rural communities. Both suspects are currently being held at the Butte County Jail on no-bail warrants, pending arraignment. The District Attorney’s Office is expected to file formal charges in the coming days. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional suspects or related crimes.
