Remembering Richard Carlisle: Northwest Fire Protection Co-Founder and ABC Arkansas Pillar Dies at 72

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Carlisle, a highly respected leader at Northwest Fire Protection and a beloved member of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Arkansas family for 46 years


🛡️ A Lifetime of Leadership and Dedication

In 1977, Richard co-founded Northwest Fire Protection, Inc., relocating from Monroe, Louisiana to Fort Smith in April 1978 alongside his family. For nearly five decades, he led the company with unwavering integrity, humility, and dedication .

Under his stewardship, Northwest Fire Protection became more than just an employer—it turned into an extended family. Many employees served alongside Richard for 20, 30, even 40 years, a testament to his fair-minded leadership and personal investment in their lives


🏛️ A Community Advocate Beyond the Workplace

Richard’s contributions extended well beyond the office fold:

  • He was a longtime Mason, serving actively in the Coldwater, Mississippi Lodge for over 40 years and reflecting his devotion to community and tradition

  • He also volunteered on the Arkansas–Oklahoma State Fair Committee, helping bring memorable events to the region during the 1990s and 2000sAdditionally, Richard served his industry through many years on the Arkansas Fire Protection Licensing Board, contributing his expertise to statewide safety and training standards

Pallbearers include Nick Alber, Brandon Yutterman, Kent Carlisle, Chris Alber, Alan Carlisle, Tony Lowrie, JB Lowrie, Kevin Carlisle, Ron Williams, and Benjie Lowrie. A guard of honor will be formed by his dedicated employees of Northwest Fire Protection .
