Missing SWOSU Student Logan Nathaniel Musil Found Deceased in Murray County; Cameron Lewis Arrested in Connection With His Death

MURRAY COUNTY, OK — The Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) community and the town of Sulphur are reeling after the devastating confirmation that 18-year-old college student, Logan Nathaniel Musil, who had been reported missing since September 30, 2025, was found deceased in Murray County earlier this week. Authorities have since announced the arrest of Cameron Lewis, who is now facing charges in connection with Logan’s tragic death.

According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), Logan’s body was discovered near Veteran’s Lake, just outside of Sulphur, following an intensive multi-day search effort that involved local law enforcement, volunteers, and concerned residents. His disappearance had sparked widespread concern, with friends, family, and classmates holding out hope for his safe return.

Sadly, that hope was shattered when search teams located his remains on October 7, in a wooded area near the lake. The discovery marked a heartbreaking end to a case that had gripped the community for over a week.

Investigators quickly identified Cameron Lewis, a 20-year-old acquaintance of Logan’s, as a person of interest. Following days of questioning and evidence gathering, Lewis was arrested on October 8 and booked into the Murray County Jail on charges that include first-degree murder and improper disposal of a body. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not yet released full details surrounding the motive or circumstances leading up to Logan’s death but confirmed that the two individuals were known to each other and that evidence recovered at the scene directly tied Lewis to the crime.

“This is an unimaginable loss for Logan’s family and the SWOSU community,” said Murray County Sheriff Travis Jenkins during a press briefing. “While we are relieved to have made an arrest, the grief and devastation of this tragedy are something no family or community should ever have to endure.”

Logan, a freshman at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, was described by classmates and professors as bright, kindhearted, and full of promise. He was pursuing his studies with enthusiasm and had quickly made friends on campus, known for his compassion, humility, and optimism.

“Logan was the kind of person who brought people together,” said a close friend from SWOSU. “He had a way of making everyone feel included and valued. It’s hard to understand how something like this could happen to someone so genuine.”

The university released a statement expressing its sorrow and support for Logan’s loved ones:

“The SWOSU community is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our own, Logan Nathaniel Musil. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and all who knew him. Counseling and support services are being made available to students, faculty, and staff as we process this heartbreaking tragedy.”

In Sulphur and across Oklahoma, the news of Logan’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief. Vigils and memorial gatherings are being organized in his honor, with candles, flowers, and messages of remembrance filling the steps of SWOSU’s student center. Many have taken to social media to share memories of Logan — his kindness, his laughter, and the light he brought into the lives of those around him.

“Logan was loved by so many,” one family member wrote. “He had dreams, goals, and so much ahead of him. Our hearts are broken, but we will make sure his name and his spirit are never forgotten.”

As the investigation continues, authorities have urged the public to refrain from speculation and to allow the legal process to unfold. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation remains actively involved in the case, working alongside local law enforcement to ensure justice for Logan and closure for his grieving family.

For now, the community is left grappling with an overwhelming sense of loss — and a reminder of how fragile life can be.

Rest in peace, Logan Nathaniel Musil.
Your warmth, kindness, and spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved you.
