Milford Man Christopher McGrath Killed in Early Morning Motorcycle Crash in Miami Township

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, OH — A somber hush has fallen over Clermont County following a fatal early-morning motorcycle crash that claimed the life of 44-year-old Christopher McGrath, a Milford resident known for his vibrant personality and strong ties to the community. The single-vehicle accident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, on State Route 28 near Business 28 in Miami Township, turning what began as a quiet morning into one marked by tragedy and mourning.

According to the Miami Township Police Department, officers responded to a report of a motorcycle down on the westbound side of SR-28. Upon arrival, they discovered McGrath and his heavily damaged motorcycle in the roadway. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that McGrath lost control of his motorcycle while navigating a curve, causing him to be ejected from the vehicle. Authorities believe speed may have been a contributing factor, though toxicology results and additional investigative findings are pending.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is assisting local authorities in conducting a full accident reconstruction. At this time, no other vehicles are believed to have been involved, and there is no indication of foul play. The roadway was temporarily closed for several hours as investigators gathered evidence and cleared debris from the scene.

Christopher McGrath was more than just another name in a police report—he was a father, son, friend, and colleague who left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. Described by friends as “a man with an infectious laugh and an unstoppable zest for life,” McGrath had a passion for motorcycles, community service, and time spent with his family. He had worked for many years in the construction industry and was well-regarded by both coworkers and clients for his dedication, skill, and integrity.

“He was one of those guys you could always count on,” said longtime friend and neighbor Mike Sanders. “He loved riding, sure, but he also loved giving back. He’d mow lawns for elderly neighbors, help out at local events, and never missed a family gathering. Chris was the kind of guy who made others feel safe.”

McGrath is survived by his two children, his parents, and a wide network of extended family and friends who are now left grappling with the sudden loss. His death has sent shockwaves through Milford and beyond, sparking an outpouring of tributes on social media and within the local motorcycle community. Several local riding groups have already begun organizing a memorial ride in his honor, scheduled for the coming weekend, to celebrate his life and raise awareness about motorcycle safety.

In a statement released by his family, they expressed their profound grief and gratitude for the support they’ve received:
“We are heartbroken beyond words. Chris brought so much joy and love into our lives. His absence leaves a void that will never be filled. We thank everyone who has reached out and ask for continued prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”

A memorial service for Christopher McGrath will be held later this week, with details to be shared by the family in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to a local road safety awareness nonprofit or to a fund being established in Chris’s name to support his children’s future.

This tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the dangers motorcyclists face on the road, especially in the early morning hours when visibility and road conditions can be particularly hazardous. As the investigation continues, the community of Miami Township joins together in mourning a life taken too soon, and in remembering the man who brought so much warmth, loyalty, and light into their lives.
