Milford Man Christopher McGrath, 44, Killed in Early Morning Motorcycle Crash in Miami Township
MIAMI TOWNSHIP, OH — A quiet early morning turned tragic in Clermont County when a single-vehicle motorcycle crash resulted in the death of 44-year-old Christopher McGrath, a Milford man. The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, on State Route 28 near Business 28 in Miami Township.
According to the Miami Township Police Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol, preliminary reports indicate that McGrath was traveling westbound on State Route 28 when he lost control of his motorcycle for reasons that remain under investigation. The motorcycle veered off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole before coming to a stop in a nearby ditch. Emergency responders arrived swiftly on scene, but McGrath had sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after.
Investigators have yet to determine the exact cause of the crash. Weather conditions were clear at the time, and authorities do not believe any other vehicles were involved. Toxicology reports are pending, and a full accident reconstruction is underway to understand the sequence of events leading up to the crash.
The sudden loss of Christopher McGrath has left his family, friends, and the Milford and Miami Township communities in deep mourning. Known affectionately as “Chris” to those who knew him best, he was a devoted father, a loyal friend, and a hardworking man with a generous spirit and a deep love for the open road.
Born and raised in Clermont County, Chris was a 1999 graduate of Milford High School. He went on to work as an HVAC technician, a field in which he earned a stellar reputation for his reliability, skill, and work ethic. Colleagues remember him as the guy who never turned down a difficult job and always had a joke ready to brighten the day.
More than anything, Chris was a family man. He is survived by his two children, Landon (17) and Madison (14), whom he cherished more than anything in the world. His social media pages were filled with photos of their school events, camping trips, and Sunday afternoon barbecues — moments that reflected a father who was present, loving, and immensely proud of his children.
Friends describe Chris as someone who was always first to show up when someone needed help, be it fixing a broken furnace, lending an ear during tough times, or rallying people for charity motorcycle rides in support of local veterans’ groups — a cause close to his heart due to his family’s military background.
“He had this way of making everyone feel welcome,” said longtime friend Tony Harris. “You never had to guess where you stood with Chris. He loved fiercely, worked hard, and rode like the wind.”
Chris also found peace and freedom on his motorcycle. He was a member of a local riders’ club and often participated in long-distance rides that blended his love of adventure with his passion for community and camaraderie.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Milford. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, July 2, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., where friends, family, and fellow riders are invited to share memories and pay their respects. A motorcycle escort will accompany the procession to Greenlawn Cemetery following the service.
In honor of his life and legacy, a memorial fund has been set up for Landon and Madison McGrath to support their education and future goals — a gesture that Chris would have wholeheartedly supported.
As the community reflects on the life of Christopher McGrath, they do so with a mixture of sorrow and gratitude — sorrow for a life lost too soon, and gratitude for the joy, love, and unwavering loyalty he brought into the lives of so many. His spirit will live on through his children, his friendships, and the roar of every motorcycle that hits the open road in his memory
