Kutztown University Mourns the Loss of Tamir Johnson, Beloved @KUBearsMBB Teammate and Friend
We are still reeling from the tragic and heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our own — a beloved member of the @KUBearsMBB family, Tamir Johnson. The weight of this loss is almost too much to bear. There are no words that can truly capture the depth of our grief or the size of the void left by his absence. A young man of remarkable talent, character, and heart — taken far too soon.
Tamir wasn’t just an athlete. He was a brother, a leader, a teammate, and a friend. On and off the court, he embodied what it meant to be a Bear — hardworking, passionate, dedicated, and full of integrity. He gave everything to the game he loved, and more importantly, to the people around him. Whether it was diving for a loose ball, encouraging a teammate from the bench, or giving back to his community, Tamir led by example — with humility, strength, and kindness.
Those who knew Tamir will remember his radiant smile — the kind that could instantly shift the energy in a room. He carried himself with quiet confidence and an unshakable belief in the power of perseverance.
