What happened:
In the early hours of Sunday, July 20, 2025, a single-vehicle crash occurred on State Road 26 in Jay County, Indiana, around 3 a.m., involving a car driven by 16-year-old Charles Smith III of Indiana. Reports indicate Smith lost control, the vehicle veered off-road, became airborne, flipped several times, and landed in a ditch. Natalie Siegrist, occupying the passenger seat, sustained fatal injuries at the scene. Smith survived with serious injuries. Another vehicle later collided with the wreckage; that driver was also cited for impairment.

Born August 2, 2008, in Coldwater, Ohio, Natalie was a junior at Fort Recovery High School.
