Deadly Shooting at Westside Jacksonville Party Leaves Woman Dead, Police Detain Five
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A night meant for celebration turned tragic early Saturday morning when a woman was shot and killed during a party on Jacksonville’s Westside. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) confirmed the fatal shooting and reported that five individuals have been detained as part of the ongoing investigation.
Tragedy at a Westside Gathering
The incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday at a private residence near the 9000 block of 103rd Street, where a large house party was reportedly underway. According to JSO, officers were dispatched to the location around 2:20 a.m. following multiple 911 calls about gunshots and a person down.
When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite efforts by emergency responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released pending family notification.
Witnesses at the party described a sudden eruption of chaos following an argument or altercation inside the home, which may have escalated to gunfire. One attendee, who requested anonymity, said, “It was a good time, then out of nowhere, shouting turned into shots. People were running, screaming. It was like a nightmare.”
