Cumberland Mourns 12-Year-Old Boy Killed in Tragic Accidental Shooting
CUMBERLAND, Ind. — A wave of shock and grief has swept through the community of Cumberland following a devastating incident early Friday morning that claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy. Authorities believe the fatal shooting was accidental, turning an ordinary morning into an unimaginable tragedy that has left a family shattered and a town in mourning.
The Cumberland Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 911 call just after 7:00 a.m. at a residence near the 12000 block of Buffalo Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered the young boy, who had sustained a gunshot wound. First responders administered emergency aid and quickly transported him to a nearby hospital, but despite all efforts, the child was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
