Alvin Police Seek Information in Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Crash That Killed 53-Year-Old Timothy Zavala
ALVIN, TX — The Alvin Police Department is asking for the public’s help as investigators work to piece together the events that led to a fatal auto-pedestrian collision that claimed the life of 53-year-old Timothy Zavala early Saturday morning, August 9, 2025.
According to police, officers were dispatched just after 2 a.m. to the scene of the incident along a dimly lit stretch of roadway in Alvin. Upon arrival, they found Zavala lying in the roadway with critical injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver involved remained on-site and is cooperating fully with authorities. At this time, no charges have been filed, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision. Factors such as lighting conditions, visibility, speed, and Zavala’s position in the roadway at the time are all under review.
Police have not released details on whether alcohol, impairment, or distracted driving played a role, but they emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages. Detectives are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the area during the time of the collision to come forward.
“This is a heartbreaking loss for the family of Mr. Zavala,” an Alvin Police spokesperson said. “We are committed to finding out exactly what happened so they can have the answers they deserve.”
Friends and relatives of Zavala describe him as a kind, hardworking man who had deep roots in the Alvin community. He was known for his easygoing personality and willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. In the wake of his death, condolences have poured in from neighbors and community members, many expressing shock over the sudden loss.
The tragedy has also renewed calls for increased pedestrian safety measures in certain parts of Alvin, where residents say limited lighting and high-speed traffic create dangerous conditions, especially late at night or in the early morning hours.
As investigators continue their work, the Alvin Police Department is reminding drivers to remain alert for pedestrians at all times, regardless of the hour, and for pedestrians to use reflective clothing or designated crossings whenever possible.
