Dacusville Mourns the Loss of 12-Year-Old Ansley Payce Chappell, A Bright Light Gone Too Soon
Dacusville, South Carolina — July 3, 2025 — With broken hearts and unwavering faith, the tight-knit community of Dacusville is grieving the unimaginable loss of 12-year-old Ansley Payce Chappell, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Surrounded by her loving family, Ansley went home to be with her Lord and Savior, leaving behind a legacy of joy, light, and unwavering spirit that touched every heart she encountered.
Born into a family rooted in love, community, and faith, Ansley was a beautiful soul who radiated kindness, curiosity, and compassion far beyond her years. A vibrant and energetic young girl, she was known for her radiant smile, infectious laugh, and the twinkle in her eye that could brighten even the darkest of days. Whether she was spending time with her siblings, helping around the house, or laughing with friends, Ansley brought warmth and light into every space she entered.
A student at Dacusville Middle School, Ansley was adored by her classmates and teachers alike. She excelled in her studies and brought a creative flair to every assignment, whether it was a story she wrote, a science project she led, or an art piece she lovingly crafted. She was also a member of the 864 Elite Volleyball Club, where her athletic talent was matched only by her sportsmanship, positivity, and leadership. Her teammates remember her as someone who always lifted others up—on and off the court.
Ansley’s deep-rooted faith in Christ was evident in the way she lived her young life. She was active in her church’s youth programs and attended Sunday school with enthusiasm. Her favorite Bible verses, which she would often write down or share with others, were reminders of her quiet wisdom and spiritual maturity. She loved singing along to worship music, praying with her family, and learning about the love of Jesus—a love she embodied in every interaction.
Her sudden passing has left an indescribable void in the hearts of her parents, siblings, extended family, and all who were fortunate to know her. In their profound grief, her family takes solace in the belief that Ansley is now in the comforting presence of her Savior, free from pain, and enveloped in everlasting peace.
“Our sweet Ansley brought so much joy into our lives. She was kind, thoughtful, and full of grace,” her family shared in a statement. “She taught us how to love deeper, laugh louder, and trust God no matter what. We are heartbroken, but we know we will see her again one day.”
In the days since her passing, the community of Dacusville has rallied around the Chappell family, offering meals, prayers, and heartfelt tributes. Vigils, school memorials, and church services have all been held to honor Ansley’s life and the profound impact she made in such a short time. Friends, teachers, coaches, and neighbors continue to share stories of her kind heart, boundless energy, and unshakable faith.
A funeral service celebrating Ansley’s life will be held at the family’s home church on Saturday, July 5, 2025. The service will include worship, personal tributes, and reflections that speak to the incredible legacy Ansley leaves behind. Attendees are encouraged to wear bright colors—especially pink and lavender, her favorites—in celebration of the vibrant life she lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the 864 Elite Volleyball Club’s youth scholarship program in Ansley’s memory, so that her passion for sport and community can continue to inspire future generations.
Though her time on earth was far too brief, Ansley Payce Chappell’s life was a shining example of love, grace, and faith. She will be missed deeply, remembered always, and cherished forever. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, and her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
