Timberville Man Killed, Another Injured in Early Morning Crash on North Valley Pike
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. — July 2, 2025 — A quiet Sunday morning in Rockingham County was shattered by a devastating two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Timberville man and left another individual hospitalized. The Virginia State Police have confirmed that 30-year-old Damian A. Siever, a well-known resident of Timberville, tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.
The crash occurred in the early hours of Sunday, along the North Valley Pike (U.S. Route 11), a heavily traveled road that runs through the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. First responders were dispatched to the scene around 5:45 a.m., following reports of a serious accident involving two passenger vehicles.
Preliminary investigation by the Virginia State Police revealed that the crash took place when a southbound vehicle, driven by Siever, crossed the center line for reasons still under investigation and collided head-on with a northbound vehicle. The impact of the crash was severe, causing extensive damage to both vehicles and trapping occupants inside.
Emergency crews from Rockingham County Fire and Rescue arrived promptly, working swiftly to extricate the victims from the wreckage. Siever was critically injured and transported by EMS to Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, where he later died despite the efforts of medical personnel. The driver of the other vehicle, whose identity has not been publicly released, was also transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. They are currently recovering and cooperating with authorities.
No other occupants were reported in either vehicle.
The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team has taken over the investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and what may have led to the tragic crash. Investigators have not yet ruled out any contributing factors, including speed, fatigue, or potential impairment. Toxicology reports and witness statements are still being collected as part of the ongoing inquiry.
News of Damian Siever’s passing has left the Timberville community heartbroken. Friends, family members, and neighbors have expressed an outpouring of grief and disbelief at the loss of a man many described as kind-hearted, hardworking, and deeply connected to his hometown.
“Damian was someone who always showed up for others,” said a longtime friend. “He had a big heart and an even bigger smile. This is a terrible loss for all of us who knew and loved him.”
Social media has been flooded with tributes to Siever, with many sharing memories and offering condolences to his family. A candlelight vigil is reportedly being planned by community members for later in the week to honor his memory and support those affected.
This incident is the latest in a series of fatal crashes along North Valley Pike, an area that has seen an uptick in serious accidents in recent years. Local residents and officials have voiced renewed concerns over road safety and infrastructure improvements, including better lighting, signage, and traffic enforcement measures.
As investigators continue to piece together the details, the Virginia State Police are urging drivers to exercise extreme caution, especially during early morning hours when visibility is low and fatigue can impair judgment.
“Our hearts go out to Mr. Siever’s family and friends,” said a spokesperson from the State Police. “We are committed to conducting a thorough investigation and working to understand how this tragedy occurred.”
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information is encouraged to contact the Virginia State Police as they work to complete the investigation.
In the meantime, a community mourns the sudden and untimely loss of one of its own, with heavy hearts and lingering questions about how such a tragedy could happen so close to home.
