26-Year-Old Tedrick Tremin Identified as Victim in Fatal Motorcycle Crash Near Sand Lake

SAND LAKE, Mich. — Heartbreak has struck the community of Sand Lake following the tragic death of 26-year-old Tedrick Tremin, who was found deceased after a motorcycle crash near the area. The Kent County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the identity of the victim on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

According to authorities, deputies were dispatched to the scene early Tuesday morning after receiving a call from a passerby who noticed debris off the roadway near the intersection of 18 Mile Road and Tisdel Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a motorcycle and its rider, later identified as Tedrick Tremin, in a wooded area just beyond the roadside ditch. Officials believe the crash may have occurred several hours prior to discovery.

Preliminary findings suggest that Tedrick may have lost control of his motorcycle while navigating a curve in the road. Speed and weather conditions are being reviewed as contributing factors, though investigators have not yet released a definitive cause. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the accident.

The news of Tedrick’s untimely passing has left his family, friends, and the broader Sand Lake community devastated. Known for his magnetic personality, adventurous spirit, and deep loyalty to those he loved, Tedrick was a young man full of life and determination. He had a passion for motorcycles, not just as a hobby but as a symbol of freedom and personal expression.

“He loved to ride—it made him feel alive,” said a close friend. “But he also knew the risks. This is a tragic accident, and we’re all struggling to process that he’s really gone.”

Tedrick was a Sand Lake native, having graduated from Tri County High School. He was employed as a skilled tradesman and had recently started a new job that he was excited about. Friends recall him as a devoted son, a protective brother, and a loyal friend who could always be counted on. He loved working with his hands, fishing in the nearby lakes, and spending weekends surrounded by those closest to him.

His family released a heartfelt statement expressing their grief:
“Tedrick was our light. He was smart, strong, and full of dreams. This loss is unbearable. We are grateful for the support we’ve received and ask for privacy as we navigate this painful time.”

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash and is asking anyone who may have seen Tedrick riding on the evening of Monday, July 1, or who may have information related to the incident, to come forward.

Community members are rallying together in support of the Tremin family. A memorial ride is being organized by local bikers in Tedrick’s honor, with plans to retrace one of his favorite routes. A candlelight vigil is also in the works to commemorate his life and reflect on the fragility of it.

Tedrick Tremin’s passing is a sobering reminder of how quickly life can change. His story is not just one of tragedy, but of a vibrant life remembered by the laughter he brought, the friendships he nurtured, and the road he so passionately traveled.

Funeral arrangements are currently being planned and will be announced by the family in the coming days. As Sand Lake mourns the loss of one of its own, the memory of Tedrick Tremin will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
