Two Dead, Two Injured in Beaumont Interstate 10 Crash; Driver Charged with Intoxication Manslaughter
BEAUMONT, TEXAS — A devastating crash on Interstate 10 in Southeast Texas early Saturday morning has claimed the lives of two people and left two others seriously injured. Authorities say 29-year-old Jesus Mario Medina is now facing two counts of intoxication manslaughter in connection with the fatal collision.
The tragic incident occurred around 2:50 a.m. on August 9, 2025, near the 800 block of Interstate 10 North, close to Harrison Avenue in Beaumont. According to investigators, Medina was driving eastbound when his vehicle collided with another car, causing catastrophic damage and scattering debris across multiple lanes.
First responders rushed to the scene within minutes, finding four individuals in critical condition. Despite lifesaving efforts, two victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The other two were transported to nearby hospitals, where they remain under intensive medical care. Their identities have not yet been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary findings suggest alcohol impairment played a significant role in the crash. Beaumont Police officials confirmed that Medina was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. He now faces multiple charges, including two counts of intoxication manslaughter and additional charges related to intoxication assault for the surviving victims.
Authorities temporarily shut down the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 for several hours while investigators documented the scene, collected evidence, and worked to reconstruct the events leading up to the deadly collision. Traffic was diverted onto alternate routes, causing significant delays during the early morning hours.
