Two Killed in Early-Morning Single-Vehicle Crash in New Brockton
NEW BROCKTON, Ala. – A tragic early-morning accident in Coffee County has claimed the lives of two people, leaving both the New Brockton and Ariton communities in shock and mourning. The fatal crash occurred on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at approximately 5:54 a.m., at the intersection of County Roads 127 and 147.
According to the Coffee County Coroner’s Office, emergency personnel were dispatched after reports of a serious one-vehicle crash in the rural area. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers and first responders discovered a single vehicle that had sustained catastrophic damage. Inside were the bodies of Brian Justin Baldwin, a resident of New Brockton, and Brittany Faye Dakota Taylor, of Ariton. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released full details about the circumstances leading to the crash, but preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle left the roadway before striking a stationary object. Investigators are working to determine if factors such as excessive speed, road conditions, or driver impairment played a role in the incident.
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), and local volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene. The crash site was cordoned off for several hours while traffic investigators documented evidence and cleared debris.
News of the accident spread quickly through both towns, with family members, friends, and neighbors expressing disbelief over the sudden loss. Baldwin, described by friends as hardworking and dependable, was known for his strong ties to New Brockton and his willingness to help anyone in need. Taylor, remembered for her bright smile and kind nature, was cherished by those in Ariton who knew her as a caring friend and loving family member.
“This is devastating for both communities,” one family friend shared. “Brian and Brittany were loved by so many. It’s hard to imagine they’re gone.”
As the investigation continues, officials are reminding drivers to remain cautious on rural roads, particularly during early morning hours when visibility may be reduced and fatigue can be a factor.
Funeral arrangements for Baldwin and Taylor will be announced in the coming days as both families begin the difficult process of saying goodbye. In the meantime, community members have begun organizing candlelight vigils and memorial gatherings to honor their lives and support those grieving this sudden tragedy.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
