In Loving Memory of Keegan Michael Walborn, 20, of Maumee, Ohio
MAUMEE, Ohio — It is with broken hearts and profound sorrow that we share the passing of Keegan Michael Walborn, who departed this life on July 30, 2025, at just 20 years old. Though his time on Earth was heartbreakingly brief, Keegan’s life radiated a sense of love, purpose, and promise that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. His presence was powerful and unforgettable—a bright spirit whose light was felt by many and will continue to shine through the memories he leaves behind.
A Life Marked by Kindness and Courage
Born on March 17, 2005, in Toledo, Ohio, Keegan grew up in Maumee, where he was known as a kind-hearted and endlessly curious young man. He was the beloved son of Michael and Amanda Walborn and a fiercely devoted brother to his younger sister, Kaylie. From a young age, Keegan displayed an inquisitive mind, a deep sense of empathy, and a sincere desire to make the world a better place.
Keegan graduated from Maumee High School in 2023, where he was active in several clubs and loved by both his teachers and classmates. He had a gift for connecting with people—whether offering a quiet, listening ear or sparking laughter with his sharp wit and gentle humor. He was often described as an “old soul,” wise beyond his years, with a natural sense of compassion and emotional insight.
He was attending Owens Community College and exploring a future in social work, driven by his desire to help others who were struggling, particularly young people facing challenges with mental health. He spoke openly and bravely about his own journey, hoping to be a source of light and strength for those who needed to know they were not alone.
A Heart Full of Passion
Keegan loved music and was a self-taught guitarist who found solace in songwriting. Whether strumming acoustic melodies on the porch or sharing original lyrics with close friends, his music was his sanctuary—a place where he could express himself freely and authentically.
He was also a passionate lover of the outdoors. From camping trips along the Maumee River to late-night stargazing and spontaneous road trips with friends, Keegan found peace and inspiration in nature. He saw beauty in the small things—a blooming tree, a quiet sunset, the laughter of friends around a fire. His appreciation for life’s simple moments reminded others to slow down and cherish what truly matters.
His love extended deeply to animals, and he was often found volunteering at local shelters or rescuing strays in need of care. His dog, Leo, was his constant companion and best friend, often described as Keegan’s “shadow,” never far from his side.
A Lasting Legacy
Keegan’s passing has left a void that cannot be measured. He was a son, a brother, a grandson, a cousin, a confidant, and a friend to many. But more than any title, Keegan was a soul that made others feel seen and understood. He carried burdens silently while lifting others with quiet strength, and his impact will echo in the lives he touched.
The Walborn family expresses their deepest gratitude to the countless individuals who have reached out in the days following Keegan’s passing. The outpouring of love, stories, and support is a testament to the remarkable young man he was.
In honor of Keegan’s life and in keeping with his spirit, the family is establishing the Keegan Walborn Foundation for Youth Mental Health Awareness—a fund dedicated to supporting local programs that offer counseling, outreach, and resources for young adults navigating mental health struggles.
Honoring Keegan
A memorial service celebrating Keegan’s life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Cornerstone Church in Maumee, beginning at 2:00 p.m. All who knew and loved Keegan are welcome to attend. Guests are encouraged to wear green, the color representing mental health awareness, as a symbol of the cause that meant so much to him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Keegan Walborn Foundation or to your local animal rescue in Keegan’s honor.
Forever Remembered
Keegan Michael Walborn may no longer walk beside us, but his spirit remains etched in the lives of all who loved him. He taught us to listen more closely, love more deeply, and live with open hearts. Though we mourn his absence with immeasurable grief, we also give thanks for the precious twenty years we were gifted with his presence.
His was a life that mattered—a life filled with empathy, creativity, and a love that will never be forgotten.
