Farmington Mourns the Sudden Loss of Beloved Mother and Advocate Andi Robbins Carlson, 38
FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA — There are few words that can truly capture the depth of heartbreak that now grips Farmington following the sudden and devastating loss of Andi Robbins Carlson on June 25, 2025. Her passing has not only left a family broken but a community in deep sorrow over a life taken far too soon.
At just 38 years old, Andi’s life was a beautiful blend of love, resilience, and authenticity. She was a woman who lived fully and gave freely, whose warmth and sincerity touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her unexpected death has left a void that feels impossible to fill, and her absence is already deeply felt across Farmington — from family and friends to colleagues, neighbors, and the many lives she impacted in her short time on earth.
Born on October 9, 1986, in Burnsville, Minnesota, Andi was the second of three siblings and the beloved daughter of Thomas and Elaine Robbins. She was known early in life for her bright smile, gentle heart, and strong will — qualities that would only deepen as she grew older. A graduate of Farmington High School and later the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Andi pursued a career in social work, devoting herself to advocacy, outreach, and compassion for the most vulnerable in society.
Professionally, Andi served as a family services coordinator for Dakota County, where she worked with children and families in crisis. Her coworkers describe her as tireless, thoughtful, and fiercely dedicated — someone who never hesitated to go above and beyond to help others find safety, stability, and hope. Her clients, many of whom had experienced tremendous hardship, often saw in Andi not just a caseworker, but a lifeline. She approached her work not just with professionalism, but with heart.
At home, Andi was the center of her family’s universe. She is survived by her husband, Jason Carlson, and their two children — Miles, age 10, and Nora, age 7 — who were the light of her life. Andi approached motherhood with the same passion and patience she brought to her work. She was their teacher, cheerleader, protector, and safe haven. Whether it was reading bedtime stories, packing lunches with love notes tucked inside, or cheering from the sidelines at youth soccer games, Andi was always present — always loving.
Her family remembers her for the small, powerful things: her laugh, which could fill a room; her love of baking, especially her famous apple cinnamon muffins; the handwritten cards she gave “just because”; and the way she always managed to find the good in people, even when it was hard.
“She had a way of making you feel like you mattered, like you were the most important person in the world when she talked to you,” said her sister, Meagan Robbins. “Her presence was a gift.”
In addition to her husband and children, Andi is survived by her parents, Thomas and Elaine; siblings Meagan and Ryan; her in-laws, Bruce and Sandra Carlson; nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who loved her dearly. Her impact stretches far beyond what any obituary can capture.
A public celebration of Andi’s life will take place on Monday, July 1, at 11:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Visitation will be held the day prior, on Sunday, June 30, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home in Farmington. The Carlson and Robbins families invite the community to join them in honoring Andi’s legacy — one defined by service, empathy, and an unshakable love for her family and fellow human beings.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a memorial fund set up for Miles and Nora’s future education or to a local domestic violence shelter — a cause Andi was deeply passionate about.
As Farmington mourns this immense loss, the community also clings to the light Andi brought to the world. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the children she raised, the families she helped, and the love she gave so freely.
Gone far too soon, but never forgotten — Andi Robbins Carlson will forever be remembered for her beautiful soul, her compassionate heart, and the difference she made in so many lives
