Fallon Mourns Loss of Darius Fruzza, 15, After Sudden Medical Emergency Following Flu Symptoms
Fallon, NV — July 7, 2025
The Fallon community is devastated by the tragic and premature passing of Darius Fruzza, a compassionate and cheerful student-athlete who breathed his last on July 7, 2025. Just 24 hours earlier, Darius had been admitted to the hospital with intense flu-like symptoms, only to suffer a rapid and catastrophic medical decline.
From Mild Ailment to Terrible Loss
On July 6, Darius was seen by medical professionals for what initially seemed like a severe flu. However, his condition deteriorated quickly, prompting airlift transport to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. Extensive tests revealed brain swelling, and exceeding all expectations, clinicians determined he had suffered no brain activity—the result of a rare and devastating reaction to the viral infection
