Authorities Identify Veromonique Ntseful-Dubose and Taurean Dubose in Tragic Murder-Suicide on Mobile Causeway
SPANISH FORT, AL — October 20, 2025 — Authorities have identified the woman who was found dead in an apparent murder-suicide on the Mobile Causeway Sunday morning as 41-year-old Veromonique Ntseful-Dubose of Mobile, Alabama. Her husband, 36-year-old Taurean Dubose, also of Mobile, was found deceased at the scene from what investigators describe as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The shocking discovery has left the Gulf Coast community heartbroken and searching for answers in the wake of an unthinkable tragedy.
According to the Spanish Fort Police Department, officers responded to reports of a vehicle stopped along the Causeway near Meaher State Park shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Sunday. When first responders arrived, they found both individuals unresponsive inside the vehicle. Paramedics pronounced Veromonique and Taurean dead at the scene. A firearm was recovered nearby.
Investigators believe that an argument between the couple may have escalated into violence, resulting in the fatal shooting of Veromonique before Taurean turned the weapon on himself. Police have stated that evidence at the scene, along with witness accounts, supports the conclusion that this was a domestic-related incident. The Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office and State Forensic Sciences are assisting in the ongoing investigation to confirm the timeline of events.
In a statement released Monday, Spanish Fort Police Chief John Barber expressed his condolences to the families affected. “This is a heartbreaking and deeply tragic situation,” Barber said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of both individuals as they navigate this unimaginable loss.”
The deaths of Veromonique and Taurean have stunned the Mobile and Baldwin County communities, where both were known by many. Friends describe Veromonique as a kind, intelligent, and devoted woman, known for her compassion, grace, and love for her family. She was active in her church community and was admired by colleagues for her professionalism and positive spirit.
“She had such a gentle soul,” one friend shared on social media. “She loved her family deeply and was always there to support others. It’s so hard to believe she’s gone.”
Those who knew the couple say their relationship had faced challenges in recent months, though no one could have imagined it would end so tragically. The case has reignited conversations about the ongoing crisis of domestic violence across Alabama and beyond — an issue that advocates say continues to claim far too many lives each year.
Local organizations, including the Penelope House, which provides shelter and support to domestic violence survivors, have urged community members to recognize the warning signs of abuse and to reach out for help before situations escalate.
A candlelight vigil in memory of Veromonique Ntseful-Dubose is being planned for later this week at Cathedral Square in Mobile. Friends, family, and community members are expected to gather to celebrate her life, honor her memory, and bring awareness to the devastating toll of domestic violence.
As the investigation concludes, the community of Spanish Fort mourns the loss of two lives — one taken too soon, the other lost to despair. The tragedy serves as a solemn reminder of the importance of compassion, communication, and intervention when relationships turn volatile.
Rest in peace, Veromonique Ntseful-Dubose. Your light, love, and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew you.
