$25,000 Reward Offered After Fatal Stabbing of 31-Year-Old Gaithersburg Man Near Howard University Campus
Washington, D.C. — A tragic act of violence has left a Maryland family mourning and a community on edge after 31-year-old Jonathan Simmons-Miller, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, was fatally stabbed early Wednesday morning just blocks from Howard University’s campus in Northwest Washington, D.C.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to the stabbing around 12:20 a.m. in the 700 block of V Street NW, near the LeDroit Park and Shaw neighborhoods, an area adjacent to the Howard University campus and known for its active nightlife and student presence.
When officers arrived, they found Simmons-Miller suffering from a stab wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

As of now, no arrests have been made and no suspect description has been publicly released. The circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain under investigation, and detectives are urgently seeking assistance from the public.
To help generate new leads in the case, the MPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Simmons-Miller’s death.
